Description
“Entre-Deux” is a punchy blend of Peggy and Jean-Pascal Buronfosse’s two parcels of Savagnin planted on marl and limestone in Rotalier, south of Lons-le-Saulnier in the Jura. The average age of the vines is 70 years-old, and they are organically farmed and manually harvested each year. The blend spends 18 months on the lees in barrel, which is topped-up for a fresh, ouillé style. The 2016 is an enticing burnished lemon color in the glass. The aromas are singing with notes of seashells, almond skin, cinnamon, and sweet orchard fruit. The palate has wonderful depth and texture from the lees aging, with flavors of lemon curd, sea salt, and tropical citrus that coalesce around a densely mineral core. Over a day the wine expands with fleshy notes of pineapple, hazelnut, and brown spice over a long salty finish. A fabulous vintage of “Entre-Deux” that is drinking great now but should develop with a couple of years in bottle.
